In Spain 70% of the inmates in prisons are muslims
I saw a number mentioned in one newspaper article, and so went looking for more. I will add to this article as I discover more data.
Estimating the percentages of Muslims in prisons across Europe is not simple.
In some cases, such as Sweden, collecting such data is illegal. In many cases, the numbers are only estimates.
I linked to my sources, but note that not all sources have the same reliability level.

Prisons are a primary recruitment pool for the Muslim Brotherhood organization. It has been this way in the USA since the 1960s. Alas, freedom of religion demands a "hands off" policy in secular societies; Muslim extremists are taking full advantage. And of course, in contrast to Christianity, Islam justifies violence as part of its Jihadi philosophy, which fits in well with people convicted of violent crimes.
Civilized society does not punish people for criminal behavior they are capable of doing, only for they actually do. Ergo, secularism is an ideal incubator for Islamic expansion.

Pela, can you add in statistics regarding the population in general? For example, if Muslims are 80% of Spain's general population, then they behave relatively well. We need something to compare this to.
Mustang, what these jihadis are preaching is an ideology of armed conquest, disguised as a religion. At the height of WWII, we would not have allowed Nazis to recruit in our prison system. We need to see to what extent a parallel with today can or should be drawn. Part of it, though, is that these mosques receive tremendous funding from abroad (Saudi Arabia, for example) and that makes them agents of a foreign power.

If you follow the link you will see that there are about 600 000 muslims in Spain who has around 40 000 000 people in it. So proportionally it's nothing short of a scandal.
Some countrys- like Sweden- has no statistics at all and others- Like Spain- of course are transition lands for North African muslims, so the statistics is obiously somewhat shaky! I will try to look in to it.
But I want to say what everybody knows but are to afraid to speak up about. Muslim prisoners consist an unreasobly high portion of inmates in Europe. I have met ex- cons awell as prison guards and talked to them about it. So the unoficiall percetage of muslims here in Sweden are around 30-50% (more in high security prisons) while they consists of about 4-5 % of the total population here. If any real "conclusions" can be made out of the numbers?
Well you know how it is with statistics, especially when it comes to criminality!
