Midsummer Eve
To morrow Friday is Midsummer eve. In Sweden it means a lot of eating raw fish, meatballs and strawberrys. Together with enormous amounts of snaps, beer and wine and doing "The Frog Dance" (do not ask!), around a fallic symbol stuck in to the ground (see picture). If a foreign nation ever wanted to invade Sweden- this is the day to do it.
It also means I will be busier than usual this Thursday. Shopping, washing clothes and so on. I do not know how much posting I will be doing until Sunday, so I leave you with some interresting links (also, do not forget to visit the links in my sidebar).
So to those of you who do celebrate this holiday - Happy Midsummer! And for those of you who does not - Happy Midsummer!
U.S. lawmakers pressuring EU on Hezbollah terrorism designation (Actually this one is outrageous. The EU have not classified hezbollah as terrorists??? What the ...???)
Palis repatriated to their homeland- Yes their homeland!
Call to ban arranged marriages- Whut? Is that even something to have a discussion about?
Belladonna- Oh!- this is sweet writing!
Can you believe this guy?
(More to follow- if I have the chance)

My Swedish grandparents lived in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. They said that up there they had nine months winter and three months cold weather. If you asked about summer, they said, "That day we have a picnic!" I guess that the climate in Sweden is about like that in the U.P.

Here in the south of Sweden it's not that bad, but up in Lapland- where I come from- summer is something that happens occationally (c;
YD: You have no idea how much I'm hurting right now- so it must have been a great weekend... Having beer- breakfastes and throwing woodsticks at eachothers for sports does that to you! Late at Friday night I was wondering how to write a post about midsummer, but it just can't be explained. You have to live through it- litterally!

We did come up with a novel new entertainment for next years midsummer holliday. Wiskey- wrestling. Take two reddish haired (and hairy) Scotsmen- only in kilts, set them up on either side of a plastic pool full of grease, and then throw in a bottle of wiskey in the middle!
Lean back, pop a beer can and enjoy!

Could also be done with a couple of fins an a bottle of Koskenkorva vodka- it really depends on the shortage of Scottish lads...
